Leather, like human skin, needs hydration and specific care. This applies to shoes and even belts. Belts are perhaps the most neglected when it comes to their maintenance, as we often do not give them the necessary attention because we believe -wrongly- that they are just another accessory, not an article that becomes a protagonist.
However, if you want to keep your belt in perfect condition you must take into account that not all leathers are the same and each type requires different pampering that varies according to its texture and finish. In this special article we want to talk about how to care for your polo belt.

Just like the skin, a leather that is not moisturised cracks, deteriorates and dries out, directly affecting its appearance and durability. What to do if your leather belt has stains
As they do not have a layer of hair and are 100% exposed, smooth leather polo belts can get wet and can be wiped with a damp cloth. Afterwards, the belt should be left to dry in the open air as excess moisture will damage it. For this reason, under no circumstances should the belt be immersed in water to be cleaned.
If small stains appear in specific places, use cotton wool dipped in isopropyl alcohol. If the stains are greasy, regardless of their size, apply corn-starch. You should spread it with your fingers because its heat will help the stain to come out. Then remove the whitish layer that has already absorbed gently, taking care of our polo belt.
However, there is no better care than daily maintenance from the moment of purchase. Avoid exposing them to moisture and heat and, in the wardrobe, as far as possible, store them in cotton bags or other natural fabrics.
Remember that polo belts have woven threads that must also be cared for, so you should avoid rubbing the belt against brushes or abrasive surfaces, as this could break the fabric and ruin the polo belt.
