SAFETY FIRST
The helmet is an essential element in the practice of almost any sport; it is so important that it is mandatory in many cases and, without a good protective complement, the player's life would be at risk. Polo is a sport in which different types of bodily affections can occur, within which serious injuries stand out in a high percentage, given the multiple factors that can occur in a competition or in a practice.
Studies on the most common type of blows when playing polo indicate that: about 40% of injuries occur in the upper part of the body and the second most common category is facial lacerations. Everyone who has practiced polo knows that the risk increases with blows to the head or spine; however, it is thanks to the helmet that the majority of serious brain contusions that a player may suffer are prevented, either a fall, a blow, stomping on the horse or even crushing by a horse.
Those of us who love this sport know that many things can happen on the playing field. It is calculated that for every 100 hours of play, at least one medical assistance is necessary for the player; but it is that knowledge that makes us aware for being more responsible with our care.
Since January 2018, the PAS 015: 2011 certification came into force, which was established for all players belonging to the Hurlingham Polo Association (HPA), the governing body of this sport in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
HELMETS THAT SAVE LIVES
Recognizing the need to put life and well-being above play, at Krono they are PAS 015: 2011 certified for all their helmets. Now, how do you get certified? For helmets to be able to hold this certificate, they must pass a list of tests, normally created by biomechanical engineers who seek to simulate or recreate various impacts that players may suffer, if the tests are complied with and it is shown that the player's life is at less risk. Before the episodes presented then the helmets put to the test have been certified.
Krono has implemented two carbon fiber composite tires, the same material used in F1, thus
replacing the traditional polystyrene that is normally used for this type of product. Krono Polo helmets seek not only to save lives but also to offer the best experience in comfort, since
the material with which they are manufactured is ultra-light but resistant, the Krono team is
proud to present these polo helmets to the market since to date, they are the only ones with
such positive results, the key has been to dare to experiment with new elements in sports
technology, thus innovating the world of polo.
